Summer Shadows I
The print “Summer Shadows” features the maiko Mamehana of Gion Kobu performing at the end of June, when tea houses in Kyoto replace their sliding doors with bamboo screens, which help to keep the banquet rooms cool during the hot and humid summer months.
Mamehana is dancing with the purple, white, and gold mai ougi (dance fan) used only by geiko (the term for geisha in Kyoto) from Gion Kobu, the most famous of Kyoto’s five geisha districts.

Packaging: Your print will be placed in a plastic print sleeve and then carefully rolled and packed in a shipping tube for maximum protection. All prints are shipped unmatted and unframed.
Shipping: Although I am based in Japan, all prints will be shipped from the United States via USPS First Class Mail (2 - 5 days) or USPS First Class International Mail (about 2 - 3 weeks).
