The print “Nape of the New Year” features the maiko Toshimomo of Miyagawa-cho in January, with a bright pink kimono and festive red and white flowers in her New Year’s hair ornaments.
Since Toshimomo is a first-year maiko in this portrait, her hair is in the wareshinobu style, which all maiko in Kyoto wear in the first and second years.
Wareshinobu is the only style that features a kanokodome, a hair ornament worn in the center of the crown of the hair, above a rectangular piece of red silk cloth.

Shipping: Although I am based in Japan, all prints will be shipped from the United States via USPS First Class Mail (2 - 5 days) or USPS First Class International Mail (about 2 - 3 weeks).
